What I Learned About Student Affairs From… Game of Thrones

WARNING: I’ve tried to limit spoilers as much as I can for the show, particularly for later seasons, but I can’t guarantee that the post is spoiler-free (i.e. things like the Red Wedding WILL come up). Continue at your own risk!

I’ll admit that when I came up with the idea to develop this series, the first two ideas that I had were Real Housewives and Game of Thrones. I explained my rationale for Real Housewives in my post a couple weeks ago; GoT specifically stuck with me because for one reason or another, many of the environments I’ve worked in felt like Westeros. Programming Note: Hey All! Hope your weeks are going well! Unfortunately, mine has been nothing short of crazy (I’ll provide photographic proof of just how crazy on PROTIP Phriday) and I’m exhausted, so I haven’t had the time to perfect the post I wanted to put up today. The perfectionist in me won’t let me post something crappy- particularly given what the post was meant to be (the above photo of what Oberyn from Game of Thrones learned re: helmets is a hint…)- so I’ve decided to take some time off for me and post it on Monday. I’ll hopefully be back for this week’s PROTIP Phriday with sanity intact. Working in Student Affairs in October really is a bitch, but luckily it’s over soon and things will quiet down…

In the meantime, watch this video from Last Week Tonight With John Oliver about the pumpkin spice invasion & pretend I said it so I won’t feel as badly about not posting today:
